I was in the toy department looking at the Barbie dolls, again. I love Barbie, Ken, and all their friends, too. While I was there, I watched a young girl shopping for her first Ken doll, along with some clothes for him. She wanted him to have a suit to wear, as she had plans for him to marry her Barbie doll when she returned home. No luck. Unfortunately, there were not many outfits available for her to choose from. Sure, it's okay for Ken to get married in his swimwear, but why should he have to? Barbie has beautiful wedding gowns and other dresses available for her to choose from, while Ken has such a limited selection. Is this really fair to Ken?
Because of his limited wardrobe, I decided to sew clothes for Ken. I did this as a young girl and do it today, over thirty years later. This has been an enjoyable hobby, and it allows me to sew anything I want for Ken to wear. Now, no matter what the occasion, Ken can feel confident that he is well dressed as he stands next to Barbie.
