Bratz Doll Valentine Shawl: Easy Sew Design to Pair with a Dress
Written by Fran Matthews

You still have time to sew a lovely Valentine shawl for your 10-inch Bratz doll. Follow these quick, easy design tips, and you will be on your way to creating something charming and warm for your doll to wear.

List of Materials:

  • Valentine cotton fabric
  • Red fleece
  • Thread
  • Paper
  • Pencil (or pen)
  • Scissors

List of Directions:

  • Using your paper, pencil, and scissors, cut out a pattern for your shawl. I chose to go with a long, triangular shape. You can also go with more of a long rectangular shape, if you prefer. Enjoy your freedom to design a pattern that matches you personal fashion taste.
  • Cut out two shawl pieces with the new paper pattern as your guide. One can be cut from your choice of Valentine cotton fabric. I found a cute one with tiny red and pink hearts on a white background. The other can be cut from a second fabric. Red Fleece will be used in this example because it highlights the red hearts in the Valentine cotton fabric. It also adds a warm, cozy texture to the shawl.

  • With front sides facing each other, sew the two shawl pieces together. Remember to leave about a 3-inch portion that is not sewn together.
  • Next, turn your shawl inside out through the hole, or 3-inch portion that you left not sewn.
  • Flip the remaining edges under to match, and sew up the outside seam, completing your shawl.
  • Press if desired. Try it on your doll, and you are done!

Additional Considerations:

You can sew your dress to match the shawl, using the same Valentine cotton fabric. Or, you can have your doll wear a basic red, white, or pink dress that she already has. The fabric you choose for your shawl will set the tone to match your style. Finally, remember that this shawl pattern can be used for any type of fabric, and for any occasion.
